I feel like a true Roman

One of the most beautiful ways to know and understand a culture is by visiting that place. There is no other way in which we can feel the atmosphere of a culture in such a real way. Only by stepping on their land, breathing their air, listening to their people, beholding treasures like a beautiful landscape and interacting with their people while adapting to their habits and customs can we say we know them. Of course, we cannot do this without proper preparation. You might be wondering here, why should I be Roman travelsprepared If everything I have to learn is there? Well, the answer to this question is very simple.

Many people regret not having studied or read about the place they were to visit beforehand, even when they enjoyed their trip. Experiencing is not only visiting, but also understanding each nuance, and making the most of our time there. For example, when I was in UK planning to visit Rome, I went for Italian Lessons in London. Honestly, it was one of the smartest decisions I ever made. Visiting Rome had been my dream for a long, long time, and I couldn’t afford to spoil it. Not only did I learn what I consider to be the most beautiful sounding language in the world, but I also acquired a very natural pronunciation, and my native speaking Italian teacher gave me an insight into the cultural matters as well as the technical aspects of the language.

When I finally arrived in Rome, noticed that I was at an advantage over other tourists. In fact, I didn’t feel like a tourist at all, and it was not because of my Italian background, it was because I felt I had been there before. In fact, I had been there many times. When taking my Italian lessons I would be so focused, so into it, that I could breathe Rome. The same thing happened every time I would review the course material, which my teacher provided for, when getting back home. I was in Italy and felt the difference.

Tourists would approach to me as If I were a local, and I could really advise them on where to go, what to say and what not to, what would sound rude, and what the polite way to say the same thing would be. I didn’t feel the odd one out, on the other hand, I felt like an Italian person, and I think Rome is my second home. When they want to Learn English Edinburgh visitors feel it the same way. Luckily for us, language lovers, lessons can be very flexible. It is now up to us to make the most of our trips.
